Betty Mae Smith, 77, of Brazil died at 11:13 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, in Union Hospital, Terre Haute.
Born June 14, 1926, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Harry L. and Mildred McGranahan James.
For 42 years she was employed by Stanley Home Products.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Fred O. Smith, whom she married March 24, 1946; a son, Jerry Wayne Smith and wife, Anna May, of Carbon; a daughter, Sherry Kay Shelley and husband, Larry, of Center Point; a sister-in-law, Helen James, of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carolyn Joan Rowe; a brother, Bill James; and a great-granddaughter, Makayla Snyder.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, in French Funeral Home with the Rev. Al Dicer officiating. Interment will follow in Bee Ridge Cemetery.
