Helen Lorane Petersen, 80, of Brazil died at 6:51 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Born Oct. 20, 1923, in Oconto County, Wis., she was the daughter of Arno and Rose Radloff Moede who have both preceded Helen in death.

She was a graduate of Suring High School. She married Clarence H. Petersen on May 25, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wis.

While living in Harlingen, Texas, she was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. After moving to Brazil she joined the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Marlice Strehlow.

She is survived by her husband Clarence; two daughters, Catherine Peters of Enfield, Conn., and Marsha Kummer of White Bear Lake, Minn. and one son, Michael A. Petersen and wife Charlene of Brazil.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Amy Davies of Indianapolis, Paul Petersen of Logan, Utah, Sarah Peters of Schenectady, N.Y., Tamara Peters of Springfield, Mass., Debbie Peters of Enfield, Conn., Rebecca Peters of Enfield, Conn., Mathew Kummer of Clarkston, Mich., Andrew Kummer of Grand Marais, Minn. and Benjamin Kummer of Apple Valley, Minn. and one great-grandchild, Jasmine Peters of Enfield, Conn.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home with funeral services to be conducted at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tony Alstott officiating. At the request of the deceased, she will be cremated following the funeral services and her ashes buried at a later date.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Grace Lutheran Church, 1001 E. Jackson, Harlingen, Texas 78550.
