Walter Criss, 75, of Reelsville, Ind., died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at 12:55 a.m. in his residence after a battle with cancer.
He was born June 3, 1928, in Hymera, Ind., the son of Oscar Criss and Grace Reedy Criss. He joined the Army following high school and served until he was discharged in 1952. He worked in the print shop for CBS for 30 years.
He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, gardening and working puzzles with his family. He was a member of the Reelsville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rosemarie Criss, of 49 years; children, Tena Snapp and husband Mark of Shepardsville, Carla Eller and husband John of Terre Haute and Tony Criss and wife Becky; grandchildren, Sarah Eller Gadberry and husband Aaron, Stephanie Eller Drigger and husband Wade, James Snapp, Andy Snapp, Matthew Eller, Megan Criss and Nathan Criss; one great-grandchild, Ian Gadberry; nieces and nephews; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herbert Criss; and one sister, Kathryn Kerr.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at French Funeral Home with the Rev. Willie Best officiating. Burial will follow at Boone-Hutchinson Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be provided by American Legion Post No. 2 and VFW No. 1127. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Monday prior to services.
