Howard "Russell" Escott, 75, of Brazil died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at 1:53 a.m. in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Born Jan. 21, 1928, in Perth, Clay County, he was the son of William and Mary Lydia Clark Escott.
He worked at Brazil Brick and Tile, Arketex, CBS and then retired from the maintenance department at Indiana State University.
He enjoyed gardening, family time and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed making special hamburgers and baking bread for his family and friends. He was known as "Grandpa" to all children, and welcomed all into his home.
He was a loving husband to his wife, of 50 years, Delores Smith Escott.
Memberships included Masonic Lodge F& AM 264, the Eastern Star 80 and the York Rite.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Sullivan and husband, Bill, and Kim Taylor; four grandchildren, David Phelps, Lonna Bordes, Jessica Phelps and Steven Taylor; a great-grandson, Conner Phelps, all of Brazil; a sister, Vivan Burkett, of Greencastle; a sister-in-law, Ruth Escott; a brother-in-law, Grant Allee; many nieces; nephews; and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Aujunae Shirley; a brother, William Tracy Escott; a sister, Frances Allee; and a nephew, Jerry Allee.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in French Funeral Home with the Rev. John Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Bee Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be today, 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services. Masonic services will be Monday at 7 p.m. with Eastern Star Services to follow.
