Freida J. Vance, 88, of Brazil, died at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, in Holly Hill Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, Brazil.
Born Dec. 14, 1915, in Brazil, she was the daughter of Francis and Anna (Akers) Salin, who have both preceded her in death. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1933, where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
She married Vincent J. Vance on Sept. 18, 1941. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1986.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Brazil and Order of Easter Star Chapter 80. She served as a Republican Party Precinct Committee member and treasurer of her 1933 Class Reunion Committee. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends.
She is survived by one daughter, Camille Wagner and husband Urban of Columbus, Ind.; one son, James V. Vance, of Plainfield; two sisters, Ruth S. Tilley of Brazil and Helen Winklepleck and husband John of Terre Haute; one granddaughter, Jennifer Spice and husband Travis of Indianapolis; one grandson, Shaun Wagner and wife Carissa, of Columbus, Ind.; and two nephews, John P. Tilley, of Brazil, and Steve S. Winklepleck, of Terre Haute.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. William Price officiating. Interment will follow in Clearview Cemetery, West of Brazil.
