Cecil Wayne "Poppy" Green, 85, of Brazil passed away at 12:25 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at home.
Born in Hoosierville to Jesse Franklin and Alfrettia Drury Green on April 18, 1918, he married Rosemary "Nanny" Beeler on Sept. 16, 1939. She survives.
He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church and served in the Army from January 1937-January 1940 and in World War II, May-December 1945.
He enjoyed fishing, listening to his collection of LP records, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He was a retired parole officer from the Indiana State Farm, Putnamville, Ind.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Brenda and Bud Wahl, Randy and Melissa Green and Rhea and Bob Hood; 12 grandchildren, Joanna and John Warne, Tanya Wahl, Kurt and Kathy Wahl, Lisa and Don Bullerdick, Miranda and Jeff Brown, John and Kari Pell, Lanny Green, Lottie and Rick Barcus, Leah and Brian Dierdorff, Wade Hood, Carrie and Dave Siples, and Lindsey Hood; 14 great-grandchildren, Kala and Heath Hayes, Jordan and Lindsey Brown, Sarah and Kurtis Wahl, John and Katie Rose Pell, Savanna Green, Shelbe Felling, Addie Wade, Brianna Dierdorff, Teyler Siples and Eden Hood; and a sister, Dorothy and Conrad Pritchard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings, Forest Harold, Ed, Bill, Lloyd, Floyd, Irvin and Albert Green, Julia Clark, Elnora Cope, Janita Fritzinger and Jesse Sanford; and a granddaughter, Kelly Green.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at French Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be made to Vista Care Hospice Foundation or Bethel United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
