EDNA CLEO SIMMONS

Edna Cleo Simmons, 77, of Brazil, formerly of Terre Haute, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, in Clay County Health Center where she had been a patient since May 2002.

Born Dec. 6, 1926, in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of James Franklin and Hannah Hastings Franklin.

She had been a packager for the former A&P food processing plant in Terre Haute for several years. For much of her life, she suffered poor health and was confined to nursing care facilities and hospitals.

She had been a member of the Pentecostal Church of Terre Haute.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lebert Simmons; a son, Ronnie Simmons; three brothers and four sisters, Edwin Franklin, Sara May Franklin, Dora Trimmer, Mary Smith, James Franklin, Jack Franklin and Carol Sue LeMay.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Ronald Rutherford, of Indianapolis; a brother and his wife, George and Bonnie Franklin, of Jacksonville, Ark.; three grandchildren, Lisa Rutherford and Ronald Rutherford II, both of Indianapolis; and James Poole, of Harrisburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, private memorial rites will be held in Indianapolis. Arrangements are being made by Miller Memorial chapel.
