Roy Long, 80, of Brazil, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at 7:10 p.m. in Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. He had been a resident there a short time.
Born Aug. 15, 1923, in Shelby County, Ill., he was the son of Walter and Ida Kern Long.
Her served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
On Jan. 27, 1946, he married Dorothy Andrews Long; she preceded him in death.
He worked for Eckrich Co., for 37 years as a mechanic.
He was a charter member of Eastside Christian Church.
He enjoyed spending time with family, camping and boating. They were members of a motor home camping club and traveled from coast to coast.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Anna Long of Brazil and Robert Alan and Rita Long of Martinsville, Ind; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and John Hughbanks, of Center Point; seven grandchildren, Jeff Long, Sandy Long, Nathan Long and his wife, Jeannie, Carrie Long, Paula Hughbanks, Melissa Hughbanks and Kevin Hughbanks; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Hughbanks, Kaitlyn and Kelsey Ruff and Jaylen Hughbanks; a brother, Lawrence Long, of Danville, Ind.; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on Dec. 3, 2001; a sister, Florence Marie Long, in childhood; and a brother, Glenn Long.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, prior to services.
