Martha A. Yocom, 94, of Brazil and Jackson Township, died at 5:21 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville where she had been a patient since Jan. 1.
Born in Parke County on Feb. 6, 1910, her parents were James M. and Nettie Ames Crafton. A 1928 graduate of Brazil High School, she later was a secretary for the former Worth Stigler insurance agency.
On Oct. 19, 1930, she married Robert J. "Jack" Yocom, who preceded her on Sept. 3, 1985. Also preceding was a sister, Grace Cagle, in 1991.
She was a member of the Staunton First Christian Church and later attended Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. Also, she was a 50-year-member of Brazil Chapter 80, Order of the Eastern Star.
Her only survivors are nieces Marlene Wegner and husband, Don, and Nikki Yocom and her husband, Joe, all of rural Brazil; a nephew, James Cagle and wife, Sandy, of Brazil; a close friend, Miriam Cooksey, of rural Brazil; and other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Miller Memorial Chapel with Bro. Doug Dickey officiating and interment will follow in Cottage Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m.
