Alfred G. Emmert, 93 of Brazil, died at 10:34 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
Mr. Emmert was born December 12, 1910 in Jackson Township in Clay County. He was the son of John F. and Mary Dierdorf Emmert. He graduated from Bowling Green High School with the class of 1930.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a medical technician from February, 1942 until his discharge as a Sergeant in October, 1945. Following the war Mr. Emmert worked at the local Arketex clay plant in Brazil for several years. He married Bonnie Siner on Sept. 12, 1966.
He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, was an active veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 2 in Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Emmert who died Feb. 3, 1943; his mother, Mary Dierdorf Emmert who died Aug. 21, 1965; and his wife, Bonnie Siner Emmert who died on Jan. 18, 1998.
He is survived by a cousin Mark L. Dierdorf of Brazil; close friend, Jean Meyer of Brazil and other extended family members.
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home with services to be conducted at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery with military honors by the VFW Post 1127 and American Legion Post 2 Honor Guard.
