George E. Adamson, 82, of rural Greencastle, died Friday afternoon at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville.

He was born August 22, 1921, in Putnam County, the son of Howard Randall and Bertha Alice (Carmichael) Adamson. On March 17, 1948, he married Alice Marie Allee. She survives.

He was a graduate of Greencastle High School class of 1940. He was a member of Lena Methodist Church, the Carbon Masonic Lodge #529, the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, and was a master mason of 50 years.

He had been a life long farmer in Putnam County and had worked at the United States Post Office in Greencastle and in Indianapolis, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Howard Adamson and wife Debra, of Linden, Richard Adamson and wife Cindy and Clark Adamson and wife Barbara, all of Greencastle; four daughters, Bertha Jasienski and husband Michael, of Penn., Mary E. Adamson, of Fla., Cindy Adamson, of Ill., and Candy Cox and husband Jerry, of Greencastle; three sisters, Ellen Thomas, of Brazil, Ethel Watt, of Greencastle, and Delilah Adamson, of Rockville; his step-mother Mary Adamson, of Rockville; 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

His parents, a brother, a daughter and a son preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Pastors Bob Kumpf and Rick Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Calcutta Cemetery.

Friends may call the Funeral Home today from 4-8 p.m. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
