Leon Bell Jr., 80, Brazil, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at 2:22 p.m. at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
He was born Oct. 26, 1923, in Center Point, the son of Leon Harvey Bell and Lillian Maegerlein Bell.
He was a member of the Brazil Elks, where he had served as secretary and Past Exalted Ruler and was on the Initiation Ritual Team. He was the past president of the Rotary and enjoyed cooking.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where he had been a deacon, elder and clerk of session. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity at Indiana University.
On Sept. 21, 1945, he married Martha Ellen Blower; she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of Brazil; their children, Leon Bell III of Brazil, Mary Ann Steinhilber of Avon and John Bell and wife Denise of Indianapolis; and one aunt, Gene Wirth of Terre Haute.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with the Elks Memorial Service at 7 p.m.
