Harold E. Sutherlin, 72, of Greencastle, died Thursday, March 18, 2004 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Putnam County, the son of Victor Alfonso Sutherlin and Olive Edna (Abbott) Sutherlin.

He was a member of the Hanna Street Baptist Church of Greencastle, American Legion Post #58, B.P.O.E. #1077, and Kiwanis. He was a merchant of appliances and furniture and a real estate broker in Greencastle. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by three daughters, Debbie Modesitt and husband Paul W., of Brazil, Tara Poston, of South Bend, and Charlotte Thomas and husband Dan, of Greencastle; one brother, Steve Sutherlin and wife Carla, of Cloverdale; grandchildren Kelse and Garrett Modesitt, Steve and Vicky Sears, and Nathan Thompson; and special friend and caregiver Lucille Thomas, of Greencastle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ann E. Raney Rawlinson; and two brothers, Charles Frederick and Harley Sutherlin.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Whitaker Funeral Home in Cloverdale, with Rev. Patrick Smith officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Burial will follow at Cloverdale Cemetery.
