Carl Frederick Mitscher, 90, of Wilmington, N.C., and formerly of Indiana and Illinois, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Mariner Health Care Center.

He was born in Brazil on Oct. 5, 1913, the son of the late Edward F. Mitscher and Savannah Atkinson Mitscher.

He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 164 in Lawrenceville, Ill., and was retired from Girton Bros. Trucking Co. in Lawrenceville.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Mary Ervin Mitscher; daughter, Carmen Singer and husband Eugene of Wilmington; grandchildren, Kathryn S. Koren of Hopewell, Va., Keith Singer and wife Lona of Hurlock, Md., E. Dale Singer and wife Sherri of McLeansville, N.C., Carl F. Singer and wife Carol of Apex, N.C., and Christopher L. Singer and fiancé Tanika Baugh of Midlothian, Va.; great-grandchildren, Alan Singer, Sarah Singer, Emily Singer, Kelly Gray and Jordan Gray; and one sister, Myrtle Salomon and husband Lyle of Monticello, Ind.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., Brazil, with interment to follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery, Brazil, with Masonic funeral honors. The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. today at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Rd., Wilmington.
