Walter Lee "Walt" Bragg Sr., 56, of Brazil, died Saturday, April 3, 2004, in his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 4, 1947, in Savannah, Ga., he was the son of the late H.F. "Jay" and Olive D. "Pat" Bragg.
He was employed by Great Dane Trailers since the age of 18, first in Savannah, Ga., and then moving to Brazil in 1975 as one of the original employees, eventually becoming plant superintendent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
During his tours of duty, he was stationed on the USS Yorktown and participated in the three capsule recovery missions on the West Coast for the Apollo Moon missions,
He was a 15-year member of the American Legion Post 2 in Brazil.
Hobbies included spending quality time with his family and friends and telling stories of times past. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was also an avid golfer and fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Ellison Bragg; two sons, Wally Bragg and wife, Kim, of Brazil and Sean Bragg of Savannah, Ga.; two brothers, Larry Bragg and wife, Dottie, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Tim Bragg of Savannah, Ga.; two sisters, Holly Ford and husband, Grady, of Savannah, Ga., and Terri Crowley and husband, Charley, of Pooler, Ga.; three grandchildren, Paige Bragg of Brazil and Brandon and Ashlee Bragg of Savannah; and many nieces and nephews.
At the request of the deceased, cremation will take place.
A memorial service is planned Wednesday at 7 p.m. in French Funeral Home with the Rev. Dick McShanog officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, 3-7 p.m. with an American Legion and VFW walk-through at 6 p.m.
