Joan M. Hoffman, 72, of Brazil, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
She was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Brazil, the daughter of Clyde and Helen Beeler McMurray. She graduated from Brazil High School, and later achieved her LPN nursing license from Ivy Tech.
She also furthered her education with an associate's degree from Indiana State University. She worked as an evening/night supervisor at the Clay County Hospital, retiring in 1994.
She enjoyed crafts and sewing and was an avid reader.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters, Dick and Barbara Hoffman, Max and April Hoffman and Michael Hoffman, all of Brazil, Cindy and Virgil Gardner of Jasonville and Suzanne and Larry Tucker of Brazil; eight grandchildren, Mike Hoffman, Marjorie Hoffman, Tom Hoffman, Connie Hoffman, Jacque Hoffman, Vonda Clark, Ashley Tucker and Erika Tucker; two great-grandsons, Grant Michael Hoffman and Jacob Theisz; one brother, Bob McMurray of Austin, Texas; one aunt, Rosemary Green of Brazil; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Johnson of Brazil; and nieces, nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard Hoffman on June 21, 2001.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Brother Lyle Monnett officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until time of service.
At her request, memorial contributions may be made to Otter Creek Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
