Adam Henderson Blakely, 16, of Reelsville, died April 9, 2004, at his residence. He had battled cancer for the past two years. He was born Oct. 9, 1987, in Indianapolis, the son of Raymond Blakely and Ginger White Barnett.
He attended Reelsville Elementary School and was currently sophomore at South Putnam High School. He collected swords and knives. He enjoyed fishing and swimming, and spent time playing video games and being with friends and family. He was baptized on April 5, 2004. He was well known for his wonderful smile.
He is survived by his father, Raymond Blakely, of Greenfield; his mother and stepfather, Ginger and Roman Barrett, of Reelsville; one grandfather, Bedford White, of Greencastle; two sisters, Anna Wilson, of Reelsville, and Cathy Rigby; one brother, Tony Blakely, of Greenfield; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and three special friends, Nick Cooper, Scott Bunten, and Cody Wood.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, with Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Boone-Hutchison Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4-8 p.m. and again Tuesday prior to services. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
