John A. Jones, 71, of Indianapolis and formerly of Brazil, died at 9:05 a.m., Monday, April 12, 2004, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis.
Born July 12, 1932, in Brazil, he was the son of John N. and Blanch S. Morlan Jones.
He worked in building maintenance and owned his own cleaning company for more than 30 years. He served in the military as a member of the Indiana Army National Guard.
Memberships included Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, he was a 32nd Degree Mason; and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Patricia Lutz Jones; a daughter, Julia A. Zeman; two sons, John Harold and Richard F. Jones; three sisters, Dorothy Jones, Mildred Vanatti and Ima Jean Jones; and a granddaughter, Kelly Harper.
His wife, Lois Hylton Jones; a son, Samuel Jones and wife, Shirley, of Greenwood, Ind.; and two daughters, Shirley Hanna and husband, Tom, of Pittsboro, Ind., and Sandra Weasner of Greenwood, Ind.; seven brothers, Robert, Eldon, Gene, James, Ronald, Kenneth and Norman Jones; a sister, Betty Syester; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren survive.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Tony Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Bee Ridge Cemetery.
