James "Jimmy" Lee Shoemaker, 54, of Greencastle, passed away Friday, April 16, at the Gulfport Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Miss.
Born Sept. 18, 1949, in Putnam County, Ind., he was the son of Russell "Rusty" James and Edith Marie Overshiner Shoemaker. He was a graduate of Greencastle High School class of 1968. On Nov. 22, 2002, he married Miranda Decker Shoemaker, who survives.
He worked at the Lear Corporation in Greencastle for 12 years. He was an active member of the Eagles Lodge, Greencastle and Brazil, and the Moose Lodge #1592, Greencastle.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, J.D. Shoemaker and wife, Michelle, of Kentucky; five daughters, Keesha Noe of Greencastle, Jackie Fisher and husband, John, of Kentucky, Jan Cain and husband, Eugene, of Kentucky, Mariet Dennison of Kentucky and Kasey Shoemaker of Terre Haute; two brothers, Jerry Shoemaker of Greencastle, and John Shoemaker and wife, Sheila, of Reelsville; three sisters, Wanda Lady of Greencastle, Linda Stanton and husband, Larry, of Coatesville and Tina Moore and husband, Kerry of Amo; 10 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friend, Kenny Spurr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary-Margret Shoemaker and a brother, Donald "Donny" Ray Shoemaker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home with the Pastor Larry Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday. An Eagles walk through service is planned for 6 p.m.
