James F. Stearley, 70, of Brazil, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at Union Hospital.

Born Oct. 29, 1933, he was the son of Ernest D. and Alice M. Kord Stearley and the husband of Patty Bedwell Stearley.

He enjoyed woodworking, computers, gardening, barbecuing and farming but, most of all, spending time with family. He was a member of the American Legion and the St. Johns United Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Patty; a son, Tim, and wife, Kim Stearley, of Brazil; a daughter, Lynn, and husband, Terry, of Brazil; a brother, Gerald, and JoAnn Stearley of Brazil; sisters-in-law, Janice and Larry Clark of Center Point and Brenda and Larry Knight of Brazil; and four grandchildren, Krista and Trent Stearley and Kaitlyn and Brock Lawson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in French Funeral Home with Pastor Ted Schory and the Rev. Tony Alstott officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
