Shirley Marcella Douglas, 90 of Brazil, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute.
She was born Sept. 21, 1914, in Clay County, the daughter of Samuel D. and Goldie Spaulding Chaney.
She was married to Rolland Douglas who has preceded her in death. She enjoyed raising her sons and growing plants and flowers. She was an artist and a member of the Raccoon Valley China Painters Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers Harold and Sammy Chaney and two sisters, Betty Henley and Thelma Weaver.
Survivors include two sisters, Lelia Turner and Mary Warnick; three sons, Owen Douglas and wife Jane, Randy Douglas, Greg Douglas and wife Jenean; and nine grandchildren, Jenny Gurley, Casey Clark, Ryan, Kennon, Margie, Megann, Travis, Danielle and Joe Douglas. She is also survived by four great grandchildren, Page Gurley, Devon and Catlin Dial and Gabrella Clark.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. Bill Price officiating. Burial will follow in Calcutta Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Clay County Humane Shelter. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
