Elaine K. Bridgewater, 57, of Brazil, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at 7:39 p.m. in the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
For the last year she had been a resident of the Clay Health Center due to failing health. She previously made her home in the Lamplight Apartments on East Pinckley Street.
Born in Brazil on June 4, 1946, her parents were Harold E. and Anna May Garrigus Bridgewater. She was a 1964 graduate of Brazil High School.
For several years she had been a nurse's aide at Clay County Hospital and was later employed in home health care until she became disabled by illness.
She lived in the Brazil community all her life and was a member of the Rio Grande Church of Christ.
Her parents; two sisters and their husbands, Bonnie and Loren Lewis and Marilyn and Wayne Tallman; and a brother, Lawrence Bridgewater, preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sisters, Janice and husband, Bro. Richard Piatt, of Brazil, Mary Ellen Cunningham of Topeka, Kan., and Judy Conway of Hastings, Neb.; a brother, Darrell Bridgewater, of Brazil; four aunts, Lillian Elder and Thelma Dellacca, both of Brazil, Alta Garrigus of Charlotte, N.C. and Mildred and husband, Merrill Oaks, of Franklin; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Miller Memorial Chapel. Bro. Richard Piatt and Darrell Bridgewater will officiate and interment will be in Stunkard Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday until the service.
