Rose Guess Simpson, 86, of Center Point, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at her residence. Born July 10, 1917, in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of Roy and Gertrude York Guess.
A graduate of Brown's Business College and My Lady Beauty Academy, she was co-owner of Simpson's Market and she was the first school bus driver in Vigo County. She was a member of the Putnamville Baptist Church, the Eastern Star, Foster Grandmothers and Mother Bee's at Honey Creek.
She is survived by a son, Dean Simpson and wife Leona of Albany Minn.; two daughters, Gloria Kay Peebles of Indianapolis and Janice Withrow and husband, James, of Putnam County; two sisters-in-law, Eadith Albright of Terre Haute and Mary Kennedy of West Terre Haute and a special cousin and friend, Helen York.
Also surviving are two granddaughters, Tammie Ebersteiner and husband, Dan, and Deana Simpson; four grandsons' Brian Simpson, Jason Blair Peebles and wife, Marie, of Carmel Ind., Brandon Bailey and wife, Susan, of Harmony, Beau Bailey and wife Jamie, of Clay County; seven great-grandchildren, Paige and Gabe Peebles, Nate and Brooke Bailey, Hannah and Hailey Ebersteiner and Heather Simpson.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel with Rev. Steve Blaydes officiating. Burial will follow at Durham Cemetery.
