Helen C. White, 91, of Greencastle and formerly of Brazil, died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at 1 a.m. at Putnam County Hospital.
She was born Feb. 15, 1913, in Beloit, Wisc., the daughter of Peter and Anna Ketuchesky Wassel. She was a 1930 graduate of Glenn High School.
On Sept. 27, 1931, she married Robert L. White Sr. at Sacred Heart Church in Terre Haute. They have been honored the past two years as the longest-married couple in the Archdiocese.
She was a member of Annunciation Church in Brazil for many years and was currently attending St. Paul's Catholic Church in Greencastle. She enjoyed gardening and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Joanne Whittaker and husband Richard of Spotsylvania, Va.; one son, Robert White Jr. and wife Debi of Cloverdale; 21 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marry Wassel of Lewis, Ind.; one brother-in-law, John Lubbehusen of Terre Haute; and other extended family.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Annunciation Church with Father Stephen Jarrell officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 p.m.
