Robert Lee "Jake" Johnson, 67, of Brazil, died May 22, 2003, at Union Hospital.

He was born Oct. 3, 1936, the son of Helen G. Meyers Johnson, in Clarion, Penn. He moved to Indiana in 1973 and worked for Amax Coal Company as Chief Electrician until his retirement in 1988. He then began his own business, known as "Jake's Electric" until his retirement in 2000.

He was a member of the F&AM Lodge 541 in Brazil and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Terre Haute. He attended Brazil Bible Fellowship Church in Brazil.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodcarving and most of all being "Poppy" to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bish Johnson, whom he married on June 16, 1956; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol Lee and Larry Everett of Widnoon, Penn., and Barbara Lynn and Mike Allard of Brazil; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Everett, Amanda Sue Everett, Beth Ann Allard, and Sara Elaine Allard; and close family friends Walter and Jacquita Craig.

His mother and one sister, Betty Jane Perry, preceded him in death.

Services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. in French Funeral Home with Pastor Gordon Nelson officiating. At his request, cremation will follow with burial of ashes at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until time of service.
