Betty E. Lucas, 75, of Knightsville, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 5:38 a.m. at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility.
She was born Oct. 3, 1928, in Grafton, W. Va., the daughter of R. Edward and Dessie Shaw Hays. Her family moved to Indiana when she was a young girl. She graduated from Broadripple High School in Indianapolis. They moved to the Brazil area following her graduation, where she met and later married Kennth J. Lucas on Feb. 14, 1947.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was a faithful member who enjoyed singing and was an avid prayer warrior.
She is survived by her children, Larry and Veronica Lucas, of Knightsville, Mark Lucas, of Evansville, Rebecca Jackson and husband Brandy, of Brazil, and J. Michael and Carol, of West Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Browning and husband John, Lauren Lucas and fiance Matt Latta, Craig Cook and wife Bridget, Shaun Cook and wife Jennifer, Cari Cook, Chip Cook and wife Lori, Braiden Butts and husband Travis, Jerod Lucas, Jeremy Lucas, and Janelle Lucas; 12 great grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie Hays and wife Maryellen, of Wolcottville, Ind.; and other extended family.
Her parents; her husband; and one grandson, Ryan Lucas, preceded her in death.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor George Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12-2 p.m.
