Bernie Headley, 69, of Ladoga, Ind., died Dec. 16, 2003 at 2:24 p.m. at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born in Brazil on June 29, 1934. He was a truck driver for Schwerman Trucking in Greencastle and had been a barber with his own shop, and for Jerry Baker in Bainbridge.
He married Carrie Phipps on June 12, 1955. She survives.
He attended the Haw Creek Church, near Roachdale.
He is survived by a son, William Headly and wife Dee, of Crawfordsville; five daughters, Cheryl Brown and husband Steven, of Rockville, Pam Reed and husband Larry, of Crawfordsville, Scarlet Headley and husband Nelson Colon, of Hallandale, Fla., Cindy Swegman and husband Audie, of Tyler Ala., and Lori Jones and husband Marty Harpold, of New Market; and 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bernie Lee Headley; one daughter, Carla Jean Headley; two sisters, Betty Rogers and Rose Mary Nolte; one brother, Bert Headley; and two half-brothers, Fred and Jim Barnett.
Cremation was conducted in December and a graveside committal service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Oak Hill North Cemetery, with Rev. Jim Rivers officiating.
