Melody Shea Snavley, 31, of Carbon, died suddenly Sunday, June 13, 2004, at her residence. She had been battling diabetes for the past several years.
She was born July 29, 1972, in Greely, Colo., the daughter of Jon Letourneau and Ann Davis Letourneau. Her father died when she was an infant and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Ray Gardner.
She graduated from Northview High School, Class of 1990. In the past, she was an assistant manager at Casey's General Store and worked at Wal-Mart in Brazil. She last worked at Asbury Towers in Greencastle as the activities director for the residents. She had to retire due to her health problems in 2001.
She enjoyed crafts, collecting teddy bears and participating in community events. She loved hosting parties for her friends and family and being with people.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Snavley, who she married Aug. 11, 1995; her mother, Ann Cox of Carbon; her children, Tara Coltharp, Adam Snavley and Elizabeth Snavley; one brother, Brian Letourneau and his wife Angela of Poland, Ind.; her stepfather, Ray Gardner; and several other extended famiy members and close friends.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Alan Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. and again Thursday prior to services.
The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the American Diabetes Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
