Ilene McCollister, 88, of Brazil, died at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2004, at 11:05 a.m. at Cloverleaf Healthcare in Knightsville.
She was the daughter of Clifford and Rose Dowden Easter. She was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Terre Haute. She lived in Saline City as a child and attended Ashboro School.
She married Everett "Flick" McCollister in 1934. She worked with Flick in their business endeavors. They operated the Silver Star Restaurant from 1945-47, then established Flick's Ice Cream Store and was in business there until 1969.
After retirement, they moved to a farm in Reelsville and raised cattle. After the death of her husband in 1971, she moved to Colony Acres in Brazil and has resided there since.
She was a long-time member of the Nazarene Church and taught children's Sunday School for many years. She liked to crochet and made many items for gifts for family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and was faithful to her God.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Marylou and Don Miller of Brazil; her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Diane McCollister of Coshocton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Don Miller Jr. of Palm City, Fla., Paula Williams and husband Ken of Defiance, Mo., Jim Miller and wife Julie of Stuart, Fla., Troy McCollister and wife Paula of Zanesville, Ohio, and Brad McCollister of Coshocton; 10 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Marie Thomas of Waveland, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Ione Branson and Dorothy Carroll.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at French Funeral Home, with the Rev. George Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.
