Anna K. Lane, 87, of Indianapolis, died Tuesday, June 22, 2004.
She was born Feb. 27, 1917, in Brazil. Her parents were James T. and Grace Hardsty Shepard.
She was employed for many years by U.S. Postal Service as a mail sorter. She was a member of Southport United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Chapter U of the International P.E.O. Sisterhood and her book club.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Deborah Lane, and grandchildren, Cassandra and Derek Lane, all of Grand Prairie, Texas; sisters, Helen Howald and Dorothy Snell of Brazil; nieces, Jane Snell Bledsoe of West Chester, Ohio, Carolyn Shepard Starks and Linda D. Shepard of Fortville, Ind.; nephew, Denis Howald of Wingate, Ind.; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Lane; her son, Dr. John D. Lane; her brother, John L. Shepard; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 E. Southport Rd., Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cremation Society of Indiana.
