Joy M. Leohr, 86, of Clay City, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at 12:45 a.m. at her residence.
She was born March 9, 1918, in Owen County, the daughter of Charley and Hattie Morris Leohr. She graduated from Clay City High School in 1936. She worked in the family grocery, Leohr's Market, until it closed. Later she worked at Crist Jewelry Store in Clay City for many years.
She was an active member of the Clay City Assembly of God Church. She was a devoted caregiver to her parents. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working in her flowers.
She is survived by one nephew, Paul Sinders and wife Shari of Clay City; their children, Annette and Doug Ream, Chip Sinders, Natalie and Tony Wolfe, Bethany and Nathan Stoelting and Justin Sinders; great-nieces and nephews, Alexandria Wolfe, Hunter Wolfe, Jenna Ream, Demi Wolfe and Callie Ream.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Leohr and Irene Sinders; and one infant brother, Othar Leohr.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Wisehart and the Rev. John Like officiating. Burial will follow at Beech Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
