Barbara E. Green, 77, of Brazil, died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at 3:20 p.m. at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis.

She was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Putnam County, the daughter of Donald and Helen Cooper Pitts. She graduated from Greencastle High School.

She married Custer M. Green on March 8, 1946. She worked as a cook at Van Buren High School for 11 years and later worked at DePauw University in food service. She was a 20-year member of the Harmony Town Council. She was a member of the Limedale Baptist Church and last attended the Center Point United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and working crossword puzzles. She collected lighthouses and was an avid fan of the Indiana Pacers. She was strong in her Christian faith and was devoted to her family.

She is survived by her husband of Brazil; one son, Roger Green of Southport; one daughter, Vicki Thomas and husband Wrangler of Center Point; four grandchildren, Sheri Yocom and husband Mike, David Green and wife Jodi, Adam Thomas and Andrea Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Taylar Yocom, Nic Yocom and Emily Yocom; two brothers, Dale Pitts and wife Evelyn and Paul Pitts and wife JoAnn, all of Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Pitts and Helen Pitts Lawson; one son, Rodney Green in 1994; and two sisters, Colleen Clearwaters and Wanita Hathaway.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel with Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until time of service.
