Carolyn F. Garrison, 69, of Staunton, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at 1:53 p.m. in the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
Born Jan. 6, 1935, in Knoxville, Tenn., she was the daughter of George and Lucy Hansard Lett.
On Feb. 21, 1952, she married Donald Garrison Sr., who survives.
She and Don traveled extensively with the military as he served in various posts.
When they lived in Illinois, she was a member of Eastern Star and served as Worthy Matron.
They moved to Staunton in 1968. She was active in their son, Don's, life serving as den mother, helping with sporting events and encouraging him in his endeavors.
She enjoyed bowling, antiquing, genealogy and crafts. She was an avid reader.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brazil.
She worked with the 181st Air National Guard in Terre Haute as an administration technician for 21 years, retiring in 1991.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Garrison Sr.; a sister, Phyllis Shulder and her husband, Gary, of Pueblo, Colo.; seven nieces, Kathy, Linda, Cheryl, Jackie, Debby, Mitzy, and Marilyn, all of Knoxville, Tenn.
Her parents and a son, Donald Garrison Jr. who died Aug. 15, 2003, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are one brother, Jack Lett; and one sister, Christine Dickey.
Services will be Monday at 7 p.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Alstott officiating. Visitation will be Monday from time until time of services.
At her request, cremation will take place and her ashes will be buried at a later date with her son.
