Lucile Brackney Spencer, 94, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died Saturday, June 26, 2004.
Born in Indiana, she became an elementary school teacher in 1930 and then became a high school teacher.
She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1936, her Master of Science Degree in 1952 and her Education Doctorate in 1960 at Indiana University.
She wrote articles for professional journals and belonged to several professional societies, serving as president of the Alpha (of Indiana) Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Honolulu branch of the National League of American Pen Women.
She received her Life Master Gold Card in Duplicate Bridge.
Her husband, Dr. Charles Henry Spencer, was also a professor at Indiana University and the University of Hawaii before his death.
Memorial services will be held at Arcadia Retirement center, 3rd Floor Activity Room, at 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
