Virginia R. Lane, 75, of Brazil, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at 7:20 p.m. in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born March 8, 1929, in Gary, Ind., she was the daughter of Ralph and Justine Ilas Dowell.
She graduated from Brazil High School in the Class of 1947.
She was married to Milo Lane Jr., who died in April 1985.
She had worked for Clay Community Schools at Van Buren School and was known as the "Cafeteria Lady". She last worked for Adamson's Laundry as an attendant.
She was a member of Bridgeton Baptist Church and enjoyed doing yard work, mushroom hunting and crafts. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her two sons, John and his wife, Carol, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jim and and his wife, Jeanie, of Brazil; four grandchildren, Christy and Bill Ante, Nathan and Erin Lane, Miranda Lane and Jonathan Lane and his fiancee, Jamie Wolfe; two great-grandchildren, Bryant Ante and Austin Lane; a sister, Betty Easton, and husband, Bill, of Terre Haute; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Helen Dowell, of Terre Haute and Glen and Barbara Dowell of Brazil; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Kenny Dowell.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at French Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Calcutta Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, prior to services.
