Hoyett Dale Grounds, 81, of Mooresville, Ind., died Thursday, July 8, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 10, 1922 in Dugger, Ind., to Earl and Elizabeth Flack Grounds.
He graduated from Indiana State University with a Bachelors Degree in 1953 and a Masters Degree in 1965.
He worked at Indianapolis Public School #101 as an industrial arts teacher from 1962 until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed Flying Aircraft and Computers.
He was Honorably discharged from the Army Air Corps in 1945 as a Captain and Flight Instructor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Bonnevere Ellis and Judy Goss.
Surviving are his wife Carol A. Marshall Grounds, Mooresville, who he married June 30, 1956; a son, Greg Dale Grounds, Brazil; a brother, Billy Grounds, Chicago; a sister, Helen Griffith, Sebring, Fla. and three grandchildren, Megan, James and Devon Grounds, Brazil.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville, with Pastor Rodney L. Craggs officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at White Lick Cemetery in Mooresville. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the Carlisle & Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville.
