Madge E. Kidwell, 94, of Brazil, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, at the Clay County Health Center where she had been a patient since Nov., 2003. Her residence was formerly on Waterworks Road for many years.
She was born in Posey Township in Clay County on July 31, 1909, the daughter of Albert Maurer and Bertha Steuerwald Maurer. She was a 1926 graduate of Brazil High School.
Later she earned a B.S. Degree in Education from Indiana State University in Terre Haute. For most of her teaching career she taught at the elementary school in Staunton.
Her memberships included the Berea Christian Church.
Preceding her in death were a son, Max Kidwell, a brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Flora Maurer and a grandson, Damon Myrick.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Don and Ruth Ann Kidwell, Brazil; a daughter and her husband, Joyce and Bill Myrick, Brazil; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Kidwell, Rockville; seven grandchildren, Bob Kidwell and wife Mary, Bill Kidwell and wife Yong, Pastor Mary Kidwell, Diane Jensen and husband Randy, Dawn Ann Fulks and husband Chuck, Hank Kidwell and wife Jennifer, Darrin Kidwell and wife Heather; ten great-grandchildren, Rob Kidwell and wife Emily, Sean Beikman, Beth Kidwell, Andy Fulks, Jonathan Jensen, Ben Fulks, Hilary Jensen, Sarah Fulks, Zoe Kidwell and Grace Kidwell; one niece, Sally Maurer, Terre Haute and a sister-in-law, Mabel Kidwell, Brazil.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Miller Memorial Chapel. Rev. Howard Hughes will officiate and burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
