Charles A. Murphy, 74, of Brazil, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, in Regional Hospital at Terre Haute.
Born Dec. 11, 1929, in Brazil, he was the son of Edward F. and Irene Robison Murphy.
Following graduation from Brazil High School in 1947, he attended Indiana University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.
He was employed for more than 30 years with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Enforcement Division as the Superintendent of the Division.
During the Korean War he served as a U.S. Marine.
He was a member of American Legion Post 2, Masonic Lodge 264, Murat Shrine, Indianapolis, and the BPOE Elks Lodge of Brazil, where he was a Past Exalted Ruler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Martha H. Egloff, and a brother, Edward G. Murphy.
Survivors inlcude his wife, Barbara Funkhouser Murphy, who he married Dec. 2, 1950; a daughter, Cathryn Hamilton and husband, Bruce, of Terre Haute; a son, Charles Brad Murphy, and his wife, Pamala, of Pinckneyville, Ill.; a sister, Susan Smith, and husband, Charles, of Carmel, Ind.; a brother-in-law, James Egloff, of Mississippi; a sister-in-law, Norma J. Murphy, of Lake Forest, Ill.; and four grandchildren, Charles J. Murphy and Sarah Kimberly Murphy of Pinckneyville, Justin D. Hamilton and wife, Megan, of Terre Haute and Laura C. Hamilton of Terre Haute.
Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Wednesday in Moore Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at Terre Haute.
