Robert Monaghan Braun, 76, of Center Point, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at the Indiana University Medical Center due to complications following surgery.
Born Sept. 17, 1927, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Harold and Mildred Margaret Monaghan Braun.
He graduated from Cathedral High School in the Class of 1945, entered the Army following high school and served two years.
On May 13, 1950, he married Beverly Lee Cecil Braun; she survives.
He worked as a machine repair technician for Chrsyler Corp. in Indianapolis, retiring after 31 years in 1988. He and his wife enjoyed camping at Dietz Lake in the 1960s and built a retirement home there in 1993.
He was a life-long member of the VFW in Indianapolis. He enjoyed fishing and watching all sports. He was a member of Annunciation Church.
Survivors include his wife; their nine children, spouses and families; R. Michael and Wendy Braun of Indianapolis, Patrick and Barbara Braun of Fishers, Jeff and Susan Braun of Medaryville, Jayne and Danny Stalcup of Ellettsville, John and Pam Braun of Tipton, Dennis and Alice Braun of Indianapolis, Suzanne and Tim Hawkins of Ellettsville, Vincent and Denise Braun of Brazil and Margaret and Brian Bastin of Orlando, Fla.; 34 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Braun of Fort Myers, Fla., and Patty Fahle and husband, Bill, of Drippping Springs, Texas; two brothers, Richard Braun and wife, Millie, of Fort Myers, Fla., and Harold Braun and wife, Betty, of Indianapolis; and a large extended family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Annunciation Church in Brazil with burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Father Rob Hausladen will officiate.
Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 p.m., with Rosary at 7:30 p.m. French Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
