Stephen R. Gieseking, 53, of Brazil died at 2:40 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2004, in his home following an extended illness.
He was a security guard 21years for the Indiana Department of Corrections at Putnamville before becoming disabled by poor health in 2003 .
Born in Brazil on Aug. 22, 1950, his parents were Wilbur R. and Zetta L. Vanatti Gieseking.
He was a 1968 graduate of Brazil High School and a lifelong resident of the community. He attended Indiana State University for two years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Gieseking.
Survivors include his wife, Judith M. "Judy" Martin Gieseking, whom he married Oct. 23, 1992; two brothers, Theodore and wife, Clementine, of Indianapolis and Howard of Brazil; a sister-in-law, Peggy Gieseking, of Brazil; many nieces and nephews including Eric, Robert, Jessie and Terra Gieseking, all of Brazil, Tina Kunstek of Florida, Tad and Teddy Gieseking and Tonya Gattone, all of Indianapolis; and several aunts and uncles.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Miller Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Dunbar officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Cemetery, south of Brazil.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today. Officers from the Indiana Department of Corrections, Putnamville, will provide an honor guard during the visitation and funeral.
