David Allen Augustus, 42, of San Marcos, Calif., and formerly of Riley, Ind., died Monday, July 19, 2004, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 9, 1961, in Terre Haute to Walter Edgar Augustus and Barbara Fox Augustus.

He was employed for 14 years with North County Transit District as a diesel mechanic. He served nine years in the United State Marine Corps from 1980-89. He was a graduate of Terre Haute South Vigo High School Class of 1980.

He enjoyed deep sea fishing and spending time with his dogs.

He was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Augustus of Clay City; one brother, Jim Augustus and wife Kathy of Terre Haute; five sisters, Nancy Pengra and husband Mark of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Carolyn Pettet and husband Ron of Terre Haute, Linda Catt and husband Ron of Coal City, Jane Schafer and husband Marion of Brazil and Janet Orman and husband Ray of Shelburn; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with Brother Scott Wiley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
