Born June 20, 1947, in Brazil, he was the son of Charles E. and Virginia E. Geilhart McDonald.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the Army, serving in Vietnam. He received the Army Commendation Medal with V device, a Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp with two loops, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 1960; Combat Infantryman Badge; and was a Sharpshooter (M-16 rifle).
He was a member of Christ Community Church, a life member of the Brazil American Legion and VFW, the Rockville American Vets, the Brazil Moose, Eagles and Masonic Lodge 541, F&AM.
His parents and a brother, James E. McDonald, preceded him in death.
Survivors inlcude a daughter, Penny Nevins, of Brazil; a brother, Bill McDonald, and wife, Joyce, of Brazil; three granddaughters, Virginia and Mary Raab of Brazil and Bobbi Raab of Terre Haute; aunts and uncles Wayne and Evelyn Parkins of Brazil, Irene McDonald of Brazil and Fred and Dorothy Geilhart of Arlington, Texas; a sister-in-law, Jackie McDonald; and a large extended family.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Miller Memorial Chapel with Pastor Greg Comp officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery with Military graveside rites.
The Veterans will hold a walk-through at 6 p.m. Tuesday. A Masonic rites services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday conducted by Lodge 541 F&AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Brazil VFW or American Legion. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
