Florence R. Currie, 91, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, in St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, Ind.
Born March 25, 1913, she was the daughter of John J. and Mahala Tribble Steuerwald.
She was a 1931 graduate of Brazil High School and a 1935 graduate of Indiana State University. She earned her master's degree from Butler University.
In 1939, she married Stanley F. Currie of Harmony, Ind. He died in 1969.
She taught school in Valparaiso, Brownsburg and in Burkhart school at Indianapolis, retiring in 1981 after teaching for 34 years in the Indiana school systems. She also volunteered at Methodist Hospital for more than 30 years.
She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, David T. Currie; grandsons, John and Mark; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Haley, of Tiburon, Calif.; a brother, Mac F. Steuerwald, of Knightsville; a sister, Francis Hamilton, of Brazil; a niece, Sharon Honn, of Frankfort; and nephews, Tom Cook, of Petaluma, Calif., and John A. Hamilton, of Arlington Heights, Ill.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nina Mary Cook.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Summit Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Ernie Rush officiating.
