Reseda Y. "Rae" Moon, 87, of Brazil, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, in the presence of her family at Bethesda Gardens in Terre Haute.

She was born April 23, 1917, in Port Edwards, Wis., the daughter of William Yusten and Mary Drummer Yusten.

She graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire, Wis. She later worked at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, where she met and married Dr. Charles E. Moon. The couple relocated to the Center Point and Brazil area, where he established his medical practice.

She was a member of the Brazil Women's Golf Association, Tri Kappa and the First Presbyterian Church Women's Circle.

She mastered the arts of stained glass, hand quilting and sewing. She was well-known for her Halloween costumes and sewing talent.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn J. Howerton of Terre Haute; two sons, Mark A. Moon and wife Nancy of Jupiter, Fla., and Michael C. Moon and his wife Kathy of Ft. Stuart, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Howerton, Debbie Howerton, Travis Moon, Garrett Moon, Peyton Moon, Charles Moon, Christin Moon, Cody Moon and Michelle Reed; four great-grandchildren, Josh Howerton, Matthew Howerton, Emma Reed and Mark Reed; and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and her husband.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Center Point Cemetery. French Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to Vista Care Hospice, 3900 S. 7th St., Terre Haute, IN 47802. Envelopes will be available at the graveside service.
