Charles Henry Nicholls, 56, of Brazil died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at 5:26 p.m. in Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

Born June 10, 1948, in Clay County, he was the son of Charles F. and Margaret Courtney Nicholls.

As a young man, Charles worked at American Vitrified and Arketex. He last worked for Brazil City Garage.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being out of doors. He was well-known as an excellent storyteller. He also did taxidermy for himself and his friends.

Charles was a member of the Brazil Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his father; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Johanna Nicholls of Brazil; two daughters and a son-in-law, Summer and Christopher Stewart and Autumn Nicholls and her fiance Zachariah McCarty; a grandson, Zach Nicholls; a sister, Irene Newport, and husband, Herb, of Clay City; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Pastor George Hewitt officiating. Burial will follow in summit Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services.
