Nellie Gard Roeschlein, 94, of Brazil, died Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at 2 p.m. in Harborside Healthcare Facility.
Born Aug. 4, 1910, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Ross and Iva Gard Tucker. She graduated from Cory High School and later married Lester Eli Roeschlein, who passed away in 1980.
Nellie worked at the Cory Orchards and Chesty Foods in Terre Haute. She had also helped her husband with farming.
She was a member of the Cory Zion Church and was active in the Zion Ladies Aid and Home Ec. group; Riley Order of Eastern Star and enjoyed traveling, fishing and gardening.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Charlotte Roeschlein, of Farmersburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lloyd Schopmeyer, of Brazil; five grandchildren, Timothy, Tony and wife Eva, and Jane Roeschlein; Lisa Burnett and husband, Mark; Kevin Schopmeyer and wife, Hannah; six great-grandchildren, Jessica and Zachary Roeschlein, Chris, Josette, Tyler and Mark Burnett; many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 10 brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with the Rev. Anthony Ferriel officiating. Burial will follow in Van Cleve Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and Friday prior to services.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Zion Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
