Karen Ann McAuliffe, 61, of Lebanon, Ind., died at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Aug, 18, 2004, in Witham Memorial Hospital, Lebanon, following a brief illness.
Born June 13, 1943, in Terre Haute, she was the daughter of the late William Bennett Preecs and Helen Louise Preecs of Lebanon.
She grew up in Terre Haute and graduated from Wiley High School in 1960. She studied in college at Ogden, Utah, and received an associate's degree.
She lived and worked in various areas of the United States and moved to Lebanon two years ago from Gulf Shores, Ala.
Karen had worked as an activities director in various extended care facilities and was most recently an employee of Total Logistic Controls in Lebanon.
She was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family, crafts and animals.
Survivors include her mother; four children, Kimberlie A. Lowry-Beach and husband, Wayne, of Lebanon, Scott Williams and wife, Jessica, of Lafayette, Kelly A. Chavis and husband, Brent, of Lebanon, Shaun P. McAuliffe and wife, Beth, of Indianapolis; a brother, William Keith Preecs and wife, Kristy, of Mesa, Ariz; nine grandchildren, Blair and Nick Lowry of Lebanon, Sophie Beach of Lebanon, Zachary Williams of Lafayette, Carly Williams of Lafayette, Bailey Chavis of Lebanon, Shiloh Chavis of Lebanon, Rosie McAuliffe of Indianapolis and Gracie McAuliffe of Indianapolis.
Memorial services were held Aug. 23 in Myers Chapel of Memories in Lebanon. Burial was in Center Cemetery east of Lebanon.
