Lloyd C. "Shorty" Ward, 69, of Lafayette, Ind., died at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004.

Born in Hadley, Ind., on Oct. 20, 1934, he was the son of William Cecil and Jessie Chapman Ward.

He lived in Lafayette since 1968.

He married Juanita M. Hall in 1957 and they divorced in 1966. He then married Delpha A. Ferry on Nov. 12, 1968, in Otterbein, Ind., and she survives.

Lloyd graduated from Amo High School in 1952 and was in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He most recently worked for General Automotive as a delivery driver and had previously been a semi driver for Schaffer Trucking and was self-employed for four years, totaling 30 years of driving a semi tractor-trailer.

He was a member of the Brady Lane Church of Christ and enjoyed yard work and gardening.

Survivors include his three sons, Rick and Terry Ward of Cloverdale, Randy Ward of Terre Haute and Bruce and Gidget Ward of Lafayette, Ind.; four daughters, Rhonda and Rick Todd of Brazil, Rebecca and Kyle McKinney of Brazil, Richelle and Mike Herr-Smith of Brazil and Regina Mayfield of Lafayette; two brothers, Jim and Cindy Ward of Indianapolis and Mark and Brenda Ward of Avon, Ind.; and a sister, Sheila and Ronnie Brown of Plainfield, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Cecil and Jessie Chapman Ward; two sisters, Grace Lovins and Sandy Wethington; and a brother, Adrean Ward.

Friends may call one hour prior to the 2 p.m. service on Tuesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. 9th St., Lafayette, Ind.

Officiating in the service will be the Rev. Ross Terry.

Burial will be at Tippecanoe Memory Garden.
