Donald R. Foltz, 66, of Brazil, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at 10:08 p.m. in Clay Health Center where he had been a patient for a week.
Born Aug. 13, 1938, in Paris, Ill., he was the son of Reece and Dorothy Crawford Foltz.
Donald was raised in Paris until his last years of high school when the family moved to Indianapolis. He graduated from Center Grove High School and later worked for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis. During his lifetime he also was employed as a converting supervisor for Bemis in Terre Haute.
On Aug. 14, 1998, he married Patricia Trackwell Swickard and moved to Brazil.
Memberships included the Eagles Lodge in Brazil.
He enjoyed Civil War history and reenactments. He also enjoyed taking pictures of friends and family, yard work and caring for stray dogs and cats.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Gutshall, of Port St. John, Fla.; his wife, Patty Foltz, of Brazil; two sons, Reece of Shelbyville and Steve and his wife, April, of Lauren, Miss.; a daughter, Mary Louise Foltz, of Laurel; a stepson, Patrick Swickard; a stepdaughter, Bridget Sartin; a granddaughter, Judith Aileen Foltz; two grandsons, Donald Reece Foltz II and William Donald Foltz; three stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; a brother, Jack Foltz, and his wife, Fran, of Evansville; a sister, Lois Johnson, of Port St. John, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Ray Gutshall.
A memorial service will be on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in French Funeral Home with Brother Doug Parkey officiating. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. prior to services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home.
