Frances Hamilton, 86, of Knightsville, died at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, in St. Vincent Clay Hospital where she was admitted last Thursday.
Born in Brazil on Oct. 29, 1917, her parents were John Steuerwald and Mahala Tribble Steuerwald. She was a 1936 graduate of Brazil High School.
In 1938, on Sept. 24, she married Joseph Hamilton who preceded her in death in 1994.
For more than 30 years she was a florist at the former Brazil Greenhouse.
She held a lifetime membership in the Bethel United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents and husband, preceding her were two sisters, Florence Currie, earlier this year, and Mina Mary Cook, in 1991.
Surviving are a son and his wife, John A. and Velda Hamilton, Arlington Heights, Ill.; a brother, Mac F. Steuerwald, Knightsville; three grandchildren, Beth Eckard, Lisle, Ill., Mark and Matthew Hamilton, both of Naperville, Ill; five great-grandchildren, John Paul, Michael Joseph and Andrew David Eckard, Johanna Jean and Sidney Laren Hamilton; a niece, Sharon Hann, Frankfort; two nephews, Tom Cooke, Petaluma, Calif., and David Currie, Tiberon, Calif.; five cousins, Dorothy Navin, Indianapolis, Jack Harper, Harmony, John Lindsay, Terre Haute, Harriet and Larry Mager, both of Brazil.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Miller Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Rush officiating. Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday.
